Some weekends beg for exploration. They call us from the drudgery of the cubicle and step into another world for 2 nights. We decided to revisit one of our honeymoon destinations and now favorite hotel, The Mission Inn.
In downtown Riverside, it is the closest piece of Europe you can find. The architecture projects a stunning old-world feel. Having been built over the course of 100 years, it’s evident that it had been assembled with a careful, customized touch; quite unusual compared to the cookie cutter hotels today that seem as if they were stamped out of a machine. We always seem to spend hours meandering down the fascinating halls, nooks and crannies.
This is a massive place with plenty of places within and near the hotel to explore. We enjoyed the courtyard restaurant, classy music in the bar, room service for breakfast, and the refreshing pool. On other visits, we’ve enjoyed their top-notch spa, gourmet cupcakes, and extraordinary Christmas light display.
